BBC Radio 4's Today programme announced on Monday that they will no longer feature daily tips during the sports bulletin. This tradition, which has been a part of the programme for over 40 years, will be reserved for the biggest days on the racing calendar.
Presenter Amol Rajan explained the decision, stating that they will still cover horse racing and other sports through interviews and coverage of major events like the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup week.
Former BBC racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght expressed disappointment in the decision, calling it a "pity" on social media. He highlighted the enjoyment and levity that the tips provided to listeners since 1977.
