Anshoda may head straight for the Breeders’ Cup

Anshoda may head straight to Del Mar for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf following her impressive victory in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.

The daughter of Inns Of Court, trained by David Loughnane, won on debut at Lingfield and confirmed her previous form by taking the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood. That win, in the hands of Billy Loughnane, came for new owners Team Valor LLC and Gary Barber, who are excited about the prospect of seeing Anshoda compete in the U.S. in early November.

Before travelling to California, Anshoda is likely to have a racecourse gallop, as her two potential British entries, the Rockfel Stakes (September 27) and the Fillies’ Mile (October 11), are either too soon or too close to the Breeders' Cup.

Barry Irwin, CEO of Team Valor International, said, “It was a very nice performance. We’re definitely heading to the Breeders’ Cup, and then she’ll return to England. We’re still discussing whether she’ll run before the Breeders' Cup. David feels the Rockfel is too soon and the Fillies’ Mile is too close, so we might opt for a gallop instead.”

Anshoda is the first horse trained by Loughnane for the owners. Irwin shared that he sacrificed a planned family trip to England to secure the filly after being impressed by her performances.

Irwin explained, “My wife and I had a planned trip to England, but I cancelled it after being offered this filly. I worked through the weekend to finalise the deal. It was tough, but worth it, especially after her success at Goodwood. We’re looking forward to more great days ahead.”
