Another attempt by Kargese to secure victory at Aintree

Kargese, the runner-up at the Cheltenham Festival, will be taking a well-known path under the guidance of Willie Mullins in the Boodles Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree on Thursday.

The trainer from Closutton has won this prestigious race two times in the past seven years. The remarkable winner of 2016, Apple's Jade, and last year's champion, Zenta, both achieved success in the Triumph Hurdle before triumphing in Merseyside.

The most recent opponent that Kargese faced was very similar to her, as they both come from the same background. However, Kargese was only defeated by Majborough at Prestbury Park last month. Despite the intense competition from Nicky Henderson's undefeated horse Sir Gino in the Triumph, the people associated with Kargese are quietly optimistic about her prospects.

"If she has emerged from Cheltenham in good condition, as indicated by the Closutton team, she should be in a favourableposition," commented Peter Molony, racing manager for owner Kenny Alexander.

She could benefit from embracing a more contented mindset. " I would significantly enhance her performance in the Triumph as she essentially struggled to control her pace throughout the race and never indeed found her rhythm. Prior to the final stretch, it appeared as though she was effortlessly surging ahead of the competition, but unfortunately, fatigue set in. The victor displayed exceptional skills, yet she could have achieved even greater proximity to her opponent had she established a stronger foundation. Therefore, if she can find her balance on Thursday, our optimism will soar."
