Anmaat Team Is Hoping For More Success in 2025

Anmaat, a standout for his owners Shadwell, is likely to lead their charge next season, with plans to rest him for the remainder of 2024. His impressive form at the highest level, despite his advancing age, has his connections targeting major 10-furlong races in 2025.

Racing manager Angus Gold praised the efforts of Shadwell Stud and trainer Owen Burrows for Anmaat’s recovery after a significant foot injury. Jim Crowley’s skilful ride secured Anmaat’s victory in the Champion Stakes at Ascot, a testament to the horse’s resilience.

Gold reflected on Anmaat’s recovery journey, noting the seriousness of his injury and the long road back to peak condition. “Just getting him back to race was an achievement,” he said, “but to win at the highest level shows incredible strength from both the horse and the team.”

In the Ascot race, Anmaat surged in the final furlong to win by half a length, further solidifying his status as a top Group One contender. While international races like the Breeders' Cup, Hong Kong, or Japan could have been options, the team is focused on making Anmaat their leading horse for 2025.

Looking ahead, Gold sees Anmaat as a key player for next year. “He’s our number one now, and we’ll treat him as such,” said Gold, hinting at more glory to come as Anmaat carries the Shadwell flag into the new season.
