Andy shall go on to Haydock with his filly

Andy Slattery plans to bring his promising filly Easy to Haydock on Saturday, provided the ground is soft enough.

Easy, who has won two of her three races so far, is entered in both the five-furlong Betfred Passionate About Sport Achilles Stakes and the seven-furlong Betfred John of Gaunt Stakes. Following her recent Listed race victory at Cork over six furlongs, Slattery prefers to extend her distance for now.

“The plan is to bring her over for the seven-furlong John of Gaunt, as long as there’s enough juice in the ground,” said Slattery. “We’re eager to run her. We had her entered at the Curragh the other day for the Greenlands Stakes, and she would have been fine if the race was on Sunday, but it was just too quick the day of the race. She’s been in training for a long time, and it was just a matter of finding the right race for her since her last run on March 30. I believe she can easily handle seven furlongs and has enough speed for five, though six with some cut in the ground is probably ideal for her. The race I’m aiming for is the Flying Five, and Ascot on Champions Day is another possibility. She works brilliantly at home and handles everything effortlessly, which is how she got her name. We’ve never had a horse like her.”
