Alfa Kellenic won 4th time Fergie & Myra Happel Ayr Gold

After Alfa Kellenic won for the fourth consecutive time in the Fergie & Myra Happel Ayr Gold Cup Trial Handicap, trainer Craig Lidster is keeping his options open with the talented filly. Piloted by jockey Tom Eaves, the daughter of Havana Grey was strategically held back before moving up on the near side as they approached the final furlong. With a strong effort from Eaves, she managed to edge out Mythical Phoenix at the line by a short head, with Aberama Gold finishing in third place.

This victory marked her hat-trick on turf this season, with previous wins at Thirsk and York under the guidance of 5lb claimer William Pyle. Alfa Kellenic also secured a victory on the all-weather track at Newcastle earlier in the year before taking a break to prepare for her turf campaign. With the ultimate goal of achieving black type, Lidster is considering his options for the promising three-year-old moving forward.

Lidster expressed his confidence in Alfa Kellenic's potential for further improvement, especially after triumphing against older competition in this latest race. He mentioned potential targets such as the Ayr Gold Cup and the Stewards' Cup, but emphasised that acquiring black type is the main objective for the season.

In another race, Kevin Ryan's newcomer King's Call made a successful debut in the Hospitality At Scottish Sun Ladies Night Novice Stakes. The Dandy Man colt, ridden by Eaves, demonstrated an impressive performance by leading the field and finishing a length ahead of We Dare To Dream. Eaves commended King's Call's performance, noting his blend of speed and stamina throughout the race. Ryan was pleased with the colt's performance and looks forward to his future races.
