A Lilac Rolla might target Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and the Prix de la Foret

A Lilac Rolla, who dead-heated for third in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, is now considering the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and the Prix de la Foret at ParisLongchamp as potential options for her next race.

The Harry Angel filly was undefeated as a juvenile last season and has maintained her unbeaten record by winning a Group Three prize at Leopardstown before finishing second in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. In her latest outing on the July course, she finished third alongside Rogue Millennium in a tough race against her elders.

Trainer Paddy Twomey is impressed with her performance and is determined to find a suitable opportunity for A Lilac Rolla to win a Group One prize before the season ends.

“I was delighted with how she ran. It was a very good race, I was very happy with her and she came out of the race in good order,” he said.

“It mightn’t have been the ideal track for her, but she’s run a career-best on numbers. I think something like the Matron will be very much in our thoughts. It’s the type of race we’re looking for, she’s proven at Group One level, and we’d obviously like to win one. The Matron or the Prix de la Foret, something like that.”
