There are about twenty fillies left in the running for this weekend's second Classic at Newmarket, the 1000 Guineas. All of the initial leaders are still in the race, with Fallen Angel and Ylang Ylang, the ante-post favourites, still battling it out for the top spot in the market.
A few weeks before the race, Karl Burke's daughter of Too Darn Hot became the clear favourite as bettors snapped up her Group 1-winning form at the Curragh. The handsome grey mare, who has been trained by her since the age of two, made history when she won the Moyglare Stud Stakes over a distance of seven feet. Her victory was the first in the race to be won by a British trainer since 2014.
The winner of the Group 1 Fillies' Mile, which was held over a course and distance at the conclusion of the previous season, was Ylang Ylang. Though her top trainer Aidan O'Brien will certainly make sure she is fully prepared for the race, she may be one for a longer trip later in the season. Additionally, he has declared Content and Brilliant to be in the race.
Another well-liked Godolphin filly by racers is Dance Sequence. She has already raced this season, coming in second to the supplemented Pretty Crystal in the Nell Gwyn Stakes, and she is expected to advance for that race. Cinderella's Dream, the stablemate who remained unbeaten following her time in Dubai, is another example of these elite connections.
1000 Guineas Odds
As the start draws near, Fallen Angel is currently the clear favourite, but there appears to be a three-way fight for first place in the 1000 Guineas. The best odds on her are 7/2, while Ylang Ylang is available at 4/1. Dance Sequence is the other possible favourite if the betting is successful.
These three stand out in the market, followed by titles like Ramatuelle and Andrew Balding's See The Fire, which come in at 10/1 and 12/1, respectively, for O'Brien's second string.
