Finding winners at Doncaster on Thursday was quite a challenge, but there was a bright spot in the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival Tipping Challenge.
Leading northern trainers have been participating by placing a £50 daily charity bet (or £25 each way), with all proceeds, including stakes, donated to the New Beginnings racehorse rehoming charity.
Prominent figures such as Ed Chamberlin, Alex Hammond, Oli Bell, and Michael Shinners have joined the Sporting Life team along with trainers David O'Meara, Kevin Ryan, Karl Burke, Tim Easterby, Charlie Johnston, Richard Fahey, John & Sean Quinn, all making selections throughout the festival.
As of Wednesday's results, Team Burke held the top position, and with only Kevin Ryan securing a winner at Doncaster on Thursday, they maintained their lead heading into the festival's concluding days.
Friday highlights include Thirsk's family fun day and an evening meeting at York featuring a performance by the Kaiser Chiefs after racing. The summer festival will culminate on Saturday with the Sky Bet Dash day at York, where S Club will entertain after the races.
