Williams Has A Lot To Anticipate With Libberty Hunter

The eight-year-old, trained by Evan Williams, has demonstrated a strong preference for soft ground throughout his successful novice chasing campaign. The conditions at Prestbury Park were ideal for him, allowing him to showcase his abilities under jockey Harry Cobden.

Although Libberty Hunter finished just over two lengths behind Unexpected Party, one of Dan Skelton's victorious horses during the week, Williams was delighted with the performance. Now, he is hoping for suitable ground conditions once again as he considers a potential run at either Aintree or Ayr towards the end of the season.

“He ran very well and we were delighted with him,” said Williams. “Those races are obviously very competitive and whenever a novice can run like that you have to be happy and fingers crossed he can step forward from it in the next stage of his career. We’ll see what the weather does and he is still a novice so that in its own way gives him opportunities in Liverpool and Ayr, so we will see how it is – the weather will be the deciding factor really.”
