Kevin Philippart De Foy’s Vafortino is eyeing European races before a return to Dubai after a strong second in the City of York Stakes.
The six-year-old had a successful winter in the Middle East, including a Listed win and a second in the Group Two Al Fahidi Fort. He started his domestic season with a solid sixth in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot and then placed third in the City Plate at Chester.
In the City of York Stakes, Vafortino finished second to 33-1 winner Breege, ahead of notable horses like Shouldvebeenaring and Audience.
Philippart De Foy was pleased with Vafortino's performance and plans to race him once more in Europe before targeting Dubai again. Possible next races include the Prix de la Forêt and the Park Stakes, with the Dubai campaign planned after a final UK run.
