Out On Friday’s seventh career victory in the Oil Handicap

Out On Friday, trained by Philip Byrne in Co Offaly, secured his seventh career victory in the Sweeney Oil Handicap. The eight-year-old Masterofthehorse gelding, ridden by Wesley Joyce, led from the front as usual and held on to win by a nose ahead of Slieve Binnian. Annexation finished third with a strong run, while Bear Profit came in fourth as the 3/1 favourite.

Byrne praised Joyce for his excellent ride and credited owner Tony Deegan for his determination to compete in every race. He described Out On Friday as a reliable and easy-to-train horse with a strong constitution. Looking ahead to the future, Byrne mentioned plans to aim for races at Galway and expressed his satisfaction with the current form of the horse.

Stewards reports noted that Slieve Binnian veered to the right during the race, while Bear Profit encountered tight room in the final furlong. After reviewing the footage, the stewards determined that no further action was necessary.
