Tom Clover has plenty of opportunities for the next race for Al Nayyir

Tom Clover has added a touch of class to his stable with the arrival of leading stayer Al Nayyir.

The five-time winner has been a prominent competitor at Meydan and, after spending the summer of 2023 in France, is now back in the Middle East, elevating his form further. Last winter, he finished a close second to Siskany in the Listed Al Khail Trophy, fourth in the Red Sea Turf Handicap in Riyadh, and claimed a silver medal in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan on World Cup night.

Al Nayyir, who previously finished behind Aidan O’Brien’s Tower Of London, is now based at Clover’s historic Kremlin House Stables in Newmarket after a run for Julien Carayon in France.

He is entered for both the Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes at York later this month and the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October. Clover is hopeful that Al Nayyir will become a key contender in top staying races.

Clover remarked that Al Nayyir is an exciting addition to the yard. He noted that the horse has been working well and that the Lonsdale Cup is being considered as his first target. With his strong form, Clover hopes Al Nayyir will perform well in the latter part of the season. He expressed enthusiasm about the staying division and added that it would be thrilling if Al Nayyir could achieve some impressive results.
