The Triple Crown winner shall be awarded a Betfred's prize

Betfred has announced a £ 2 million bonus for any horse that can win the Triple Crown by triumphing in all three legs, the 2000 Guineas, the Derby, and the St Leger. Fred Done, a bookmaker, had already sponsored the Derby and the Leger and recently took on the sponsorship of the Guineas after Qipco ended their support.

The last horse to achieve the Triple Crown was Nijinsky under Lester Piggott in 1970. Camelot came close in 2012, winning the Guineas and the Derby but falling short in the Leger. City Of Troy, also trained by Aidan O’Brien like Camelot, failed to win the Guineas but bounced back to win the Derby.

Fred Done expressed his pride in sponsoring all five British Classics and his support for the sport of horse racing. The incentive for the Triple Crown is aimed at bringing more attention to British horseracing and celebrating another Triple Crown winner.

Amy Starkey, managing director of Jockey Club Racecourses, which owns Newmarket, praised Betfred for sponsoring the iconic Classics and the generous bonus for the Triple Crown. Aidan O’Brien acknowledged the unique challenge of the Triple Crown and appreciated Betfred's support for the Classic races.
