Charlie Fellowes is optimistic about The East's prospects as the Racing League continues with night two at Wolverhampton on Thursday.
Leading the leaderboard with 163 points, The East enjoyed a fantastic start with a treble at Yarmouth last week, marking a dream debut for new manager Chris Hughes and his assistant, Fellowes.
The team will field 13 runners at Dunstall Park, highlighted by James Fanshawe’s Listed-winning sprinter Willem Twee, who will compete in the £75,000 handicap.
Fellowes expressed excitement over last week’s three winners, though he was puzzled by Moulin Booj's unexpected loss. He acknowledged that the team's "joker" strategy didn't go as planned but considered the night satisfying overall.
Fellowes highlighted the team's organised approach for Wolverhampton, emphasising the importance of transparency among the 28 trainers to build trust. He believes they have a strong chance in the main race, with Willem Twee performing well on all-weather surfaces. The choice between Al Barez and Quinault led them to select Al Barez, given his better form.
Ireland, trailing The East by 10 points, features a strong contingent at Wolverhampton, including Ross O’Sullivan’s Fair Taxes. Team manager Kevin Blake noted mixed outcomes at Great Yarmouth, but is optimistic about a stronger second half.
Wales & The West and London & The South made solid starts and aim to close the gap on leaders. Team manager Jamie Osborne expressed satisfaction with last week’s performance and confidence in their 14 runners this week.
