Con Cronin, a native of Killarney, has been named as the new chairman of the prestigious Curragh Racecourse. Mr Cronin takes over from Padraig McManus, who recently retired as Chairman of Curragh Racecourse Limited after successfully leading the transformation of the racecourse and training facilities.
Con Cronin brings a wealth of experience in commercial property and currently holds the esteemed position of Executive Chairman at Avison Young in Ireland. With a remarkable background as an accomplished rower and respected coach, he also had the honour of leading Rowing Ireland as President during the exciting four-year journey leading up to the Rio Olympics. It was during this momentous event that Ireland achieved a historic milestone by securing its inaugural Olympic rowing medal.
In addition to his role as a Board member of Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin, Mr Cronin currently holds a director position at Children's Health Ireland. Mr Cronin, who hails from Killarney, has experienced great triumphs as a racehorse proprietor, particularly with GVA Ireland and Miss Xian.
