Goliath could become the star of Resolute Racing as John Stewart aims for international prominence. After an impressive victory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, Goliath has caught Stewart’s attention, leading him to acquire a majority share in the horse.
Stewart, a former Toyota UK chief and now a private equity firm owner, plans to make Goliath the centrepiece of his global racing ambitions. Goliath’s next stop will be the Preis von Europa in Germany, with a potential tilt at the Japan Cup on November 24 on the horizon. If successful, he would be the first French-trained horse to win the Japan Cup since 1987.
Stewart is committed to international racing and has already invested heavily, spending over $25 million in the past year. He aims to feature Resolute Racing silks prominently on the global stage, targeting major races in Japan, Hong Kong, Dubai, and possibly even Australia and the US.
Stewart is also expanding his broodmare operation at his newly acquired Resolute Farm in Kentucky, which includes top names like Goodnight Olive and Pizza Bianca. He has invested in high-quality yearlings, including a €1.4 million Wootton Bassett colt, and plans to race some of his European acquisitions there.
"My goal is to ensure our best horses compete in top races worldwide," Stewart said. "We’re focused on building a strong international presence and creating excitement around our runners."
