Tom Dascombe is confident that Sonic Blue can continue his winning streak on his second career start, potentially setting him up for success at Royal Ascot.
The two-year-old triumphed by a length and a half in his debut race at Doncaster last month and aims to replicate that success at Ripon on Wednesday.
Dascombe is hoping for fast ground for the Blue Point colt, with Goodwood as a backup option if rain affects Ripon.
The Lambourn-based trainer prefers Ripon for the extra recovery time before Ascot, where the Norfolk Stakes could be the next target if Sonic Blue secures another victory.
Dascombe emphasised the importance of experience in two-year-olds, noting that those who have raced multiple times tend to perform better at Royal Ascot. Sonic Blue may target either the Norfolk or Windsor Castle Stakes, with Dascombe favouring the former as a potentially easier race to win.
