Useful hurdler Sir Allen (14/1) notched his second win on the flat, leading a 1-3 finish for trainer Andy Slattery in the Treo Eile Retraining Ireland's Racehorses Handicap at Listowel.
Wearing cheekpieces for the first time, the Territories gelding moved into contention as they turned for home and took the lead a furlong out, winning by two-and-a-half lengths over Tudor Manor, with stablemate Plains Indian also finishing strongly.
Trainer Slattery commented on the Eight Star Syndicate's winner: "He was a good hurdler last year but experienced a bit of 'three-year-old syndrome.' Thankfully, he’s back to his best now. He had a solid run up north recently, and we pulled him out twice due to the ground being too quick, but it’s lovely here."
"Two of his owners travelled down from Armagh last night and are staying tonight, so this is wonderful for them. We might consider a handicap hurdle at Tipperary on Super Sunday next month."
