Silvestre de Sousa clashes with Notable Speech in the Prix du Moulin

Silvestre de Sousa is optimistic that Charyn has all the qualities needed to shine in the Prix du Moulin at Paris Longchamp this Sunday, where he will face Notable Speech.

Roger Varian's four-year-old has been in exceptional form this season, securing four wins from five starts and finishing second in the Lockinge. After claiming the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, Charyn delivered a stunning three-length victory in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville. De Sousa believes the best may still be ahead for the son of Dark Angel.

Speaking to Sky Sports Racing, De Sousa said: "Charyn is in excellent shape, and the team is very pleased with his preparation. He’s a laid-back horse at home but gives his all on the gallops. His genuine nature and consistent performance have been impressive."

"He’s been improving consistently and dominating his races. We haven’t had to fully exert him in every race, so we’re hopeful for further improvement."

Charyn will face new challenges from Charlie Appleby’s 2000 Guineas winner Notable Speech and Aidan O’Brien’s Henry Longfellow, adding fresh competition to the four-year-old’s successful season. However, De Sousa is confident that Charyn’s adaptability will serve him well on the day.

"He’s very adaptable and handles any type of ground. It looks like we’ll have genuine ground, but if it turns softer, it won’t affect him," De Sousa added. "It will be a tough race with strong competitors, but we’re ready and in good form."

"I’m not concerned about the track; he’ll handle it without any issues. It’s a pleasure to ride a horse like Charyn, and facing strong rivals only adds to the excitement. We’re aiming to deliver a strong performance."
