Sheikh Mohammed has decided to end his support for Roger Varian

Roger Varian has announced that Sheikh Mohammed Obaid has withdrawn all 10 horses from his Carlburg Stables in Newmarket.

Over the past nine years, Varian and Sheikh Obaid have enjoyed notable success, including seven major victories. Among the standout horses trained by Varian for Sheikh Obaid was Postponed, who triumphed in the Sheema Classic, Coronation Cup, and Juddmonte International in 2016.

In a statement, Varian said: “I can confirm that Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum has decided to end his support of my stable. The 10 horses he had in training with me left today.”

Varian extended his heartfelt thanks to Sheikh Obaid for the opportunities provided over the past nine years. Their partnership has been both long and rewarding, marked by many memorable days in Britain—particularly at Royal Ascot—as well as internationally, with seven Group One victories.

He noted that Sheikh Obaid is a passionate and dedicated supporter of racing worldwide and wished him and his horses continued success in the future.

Despite this change, Varian and his team at Carlburg Stables remain focused on their successful season. They currently house top-class horses, including the miler Charyn and the British Classic winner Elmalka, among others.

Varian expressed deep appreciation for their owners' support and looked forward to continued success together in the months and years ahead.
