Trainer Paddy Twomey and jockey Billy Lee are aiming for the Dublin Racing Festival following their successful Cheltenham raid with the talented Seo Linn.
Better known for their achievements on the Flat, the duo ventured into National Hunt racing with Seo Linn, who delivered an impressive performance to claim Listed bumper honours at Prestbury Park.
Twomey now plans to keep the four-year-old in mares’ bumper contests, with the Grade Two Mares’ Bumper at Leopardstown on February 2 a likely target. A potential trip to Aintree for the Grand National meeting in April is also under consideration before Seo Linn transitions to Flat racing.
“For Billy and myself, it was a bit of a novelty going to Cheltenham, but we really enjoyed it,” Twomey said. “She won comprehensively and has come home safe and well. We’ll likely look at the mares’ bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival and perhaps another at Aintree in April. After that, we’ll aim for a maiden on the Flat in Ireland.”
Seo Linn, a late-maturing filly, has shown enough talent to suggest she could earn black type on the Flat after her bumper campaign. However, Twomey remains committed to his Flat racing focus and does not foresee a shift to National Hunt racing.
“She’s a filly with a bit of talent, and starting her in bumpers was part of a plan to transition her to the Flat. But I think we’ll stick to what we know,” he added.
Seo Linn’s Cheltenham win and potential in upcoming races highlight her as an exciting prospect across both codes.
