Sara has joined the National Hunt training ranks

Sara Bradstock has joined the National Hunt training ranks, receiving a full licence to continue the operation she ran with her late husband, Mark. Based at Old Manor Stables near Wantage, she is set to saddle her first runners soon, with assistance from her daughter Lily, who has been a key part of the family business and will inherit the trainer’s role.

Lily played a significant role in the success of Southfield Theatre, a champion point-to-pointer. Sara praised Lily’s dedication, stating, "She adores the horses and does much of the physical work."

While maintaining a focus on top staying chasers, Bradstock aims to run a more commercial operation, currently syndicating one of her promising young horses. She highlighted Mr Vango, who is targeting the Welsh Grand National after a strong performance at the Festival.

The historic yard has a rich legacy, having trained notable horses like Golden Miller and Coneygree, the 2015 Gold Cup winner. Sara plans to establish The Remembering Mark Racing Club, inviting 30 members to share in a horse for a season fee.

Reflecting on Mark's legacy, she said, "We trained and cared for the horses as a partnership, and I will continue to consult him whenever needed."
