In an attempt to secure her place at Royal Ascot, Remarquee will compete in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom.
The filly trained by Ralph Beckett was a standout performer when she was three years old. Following her first start of the previous season, when she won the Fred Darling at Newbury, she went on to win a silver medal in the Coronation Stakes and the Falmouth Stakes later in the summer, only to run into Tahiyra and an on-course Nashwa, respectively.
She started the 2024 Chartwell Fillies' Stakes at Lingfield as the 2-1 favourite, and while she finished fourth in her final race of the previous season, she was a little disappointed. She was defeated five lengths in fifth place.
Remarquee's connections anticipate that she will make significant progress on her next start as they chart a path to the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at the Royal meeting.
The filly owned by Wathnan Racing will now have to emulate her former stablemate Prosperous Voyage, who won the same Group Three on Derby day for the Beckett outfit a year and a half ago.
“I think she was very fresh and she was keen to post and just ran all a bit free and fresh,” said Richard Brown, racing adviser for Wathnan. “Ralph expects her to come on a lot for the run and we think she will and we’ll probably look at the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom on Derby day. We’ve said all along we will work backwards from the Duke of Cambridge and we haven’t changed from that plan.”
