Ramatuelle, the talented three-year-old filly trained by Christopher Head, was purchased by Coolmore for $5.1 million at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Known for her consistency, Ramatuelle won four of her nine starts and placed in the other five, including notable thirds in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Her career highlight came in October with a commanding victory in the Group One Prix de la Forêt at ParisLongchamp, ultimately marking her final race. She was withdrawn from the Breeders’ Cup Mile due to veterinary concerns.
Now retired, Ramatuelle will begin her broodmare career with a planned visit to the renowned stallion Wootton Bassett, joining fellow Coolmore acquisition Opera Singer, winner of the Nassau Stakes. Coolmore’s MV Magnier confirmed, “We had to retire Opera Singer as well, so the plan is to send both of them to Wootton Bassett next year.”
Other notable transactions occurred during the sale, with Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Moira fetching $4.3 million and Grade One winner McKulick selling for $6 million.
