Quddwah is set to defend his unbeaten record in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville.
After winning his first two races at Salisbury and Newmarket in May of last year, the Kingman colt secured his hat-trick with a victory in Ascot’s Paradise Stakes following a year-long break.
He was initially slated for the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot but missed the race due to unsatisfactory blood test results. The disappointment was amplified as the second and third from the Paradise Stakes, Docklands and Maljoom, both performed well subsequently.
Simon and Ed Crisford redirected Quddwah to the Group Two Summer Mile at Ascot, where he extended his unbeaten streak to four with a commanding win. Now, Ed Crisford believes it’s time to test him at the top level in France.
“He’s heading for the Jacques le Marois,” Crisford said. “He’s come out of the Summer Mile in great shape, so we’ll see how he fares at Group One level. He’s still lightly raced and learning with each run, but we think he’s ready for this step up. We’re looking forward to the challenge.”
