Penzance, a potential contender in the Easter Classic, continues to make progress

Penzance aims to solidify its successful winter campaign by winning the prestigious BetUK All-Weather Easter Classic at Newcastle on Good Friday. The grey horse, initially a five-race maiden, was purchased for 31,000 guineas in July and has since achieved four consecutive victories under trainer Mick Appleby and owners The Horse Watchers.

Despite facing tougher competition on the All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Appleby remains confident in Penzance's ability to deliver another impressive performance and considers him the best chance for a win on Friday. Co-owner Chris Dixon acknowledges the challenging nature of the race but believes Penzance has improved since the last run.

Penzance's former trainers, Simon and Ed Crisford, are also represented in the race by Oh So Grand and Base Note. Irish contender Elegant Man, trained by Adrian Murray, has shown promise with wins at Dundalk and a strong performance against Rebel's Romance.

Hooking, owned by footballer Antoine Griezmann, is an intriguing contender from France with recent Listed victories. Other notable contenders include To Catch A Thief, Storm Catcher, and Teumessias Fox, all previous winners over the course and distance.
