Osborne further boosted Wales & The West’s chances by guiding Ed Walker’s Fantasy Believer (9-1) to a win in race six, overcoming Rathgar and David Probert from London & The South.
The highlight came when Osborne secured the feature Take Tote Home With You Racing League 21 Handicap aboard Michael Bell’s Carrytheone (2-1 favourite), edging out rivals in a dramatic three-way photo finish. Oisin Orr and Maywake were involved in a fall near the finish, but both were quickly okay.
London & The South also made significant strides, with Oisin Murphy helping the team achieve a treble. They started strong with Eve Johnson Houghton’s Great Acclaim (10-1) and Andrew Balding’s Lady Flora finishing first and second in the opener. Murphy then won aboard Richard Hannon’s Gisburn (100-30) in race three and later with Lieber Power (9-4 favourite) in race five.
Yorkshire’s Manila Scouse (7-1) repeated last year’s win in race four for Tim Easterby and David Allan, highlighting the significance of the rain-soaked conditions.
By the end of the evening, The East led with 424 points, narrowly ahead of Wales & The West with 416. London & The South trailed with 374 points, while Ireland held 328 points.
