Nicholls thinks of increasing the distance to Maw Lam

Adrian Nicholls believed in Maw Lam's talent despite her 50-1 odds in the Queen Mary, where she finished strongly for third under Hollie Doyle. Considering her late charge, Nicholls is pondering races over five or six furlongs but hasn't finalised plans.

"We've got options," he said. "She might enter the Prix Robert Papin's next stage or the Cherry Hinton. Any race from five to six furlongs at Listed level or higher will be considered. There aren't many good options for five-furlong two-year-olds post-Ascot, so she might move up to six. I think she'll handle it."

"The Molecomb Stakes is an option, but Goodwood's speed orientation might challenge her. Hollie noted she wasn't slow out; she just started late, tough at Goodwood."

"I need to work on her starting. Over six furlongs, it's less of an issue. Winning a Listed race before stepping up would be nice. She's also in York's sales race, big for Chris Hirst (owner). With her black type, it's not about selling her."

"I think she's our best juvenile. Our good ones developed later; Mamba Wamba and Mo Celita came after. She could've been second or won the Hilary Needler at Ascot. Tony Hamilton noticed her special talent in February."
