Nebras Added to Futurity Trophy Lineup at Doncaster

Newmarket winner Nebras, a promising colt trained by John and Thady Gosden, has been supplemented for Saturday's William Hill Futurity Trophy at Doncaster. The half-brother to star filly Nashwa impressed on his debut at the Rowley Mile earlier this month and has been added to the Group One race for a fee of £17,500. The Gosdens may also run dual all-weather winner Detain.

Owned by Imad Al Sagar, Nebras is set for his second career start, despite the challenge posed by facing more experienced rivals. Al Sagar’s racing manager, Teddy Grimthorpe, noted, “John always wanted to give Nebras two runs this year, and after his impressive win at Newmarket, it was just a matter of seeing how he recovered. He’s in good form, and we believe he can handle the soft ground, so we thought it worth the opportunity.”

Wimbledon Hawkeye, trained by James Owen, is the likely favourite following his Royal Lodge victory at Newmarket, confirming his strong runner-up finish in York’s Acomb Stakes. Hotazhell, winner of Ireland's Futurity Stakes, is another major contender for Jessica Harrington.

Aidan O’Brien has several entries, including Delacroix and Serengeti, while Joseph O’Brien has Apples And Bananas and Tennessee Stud. Charlie Appleby’s unbeaten Anno Domini, Ralph Beckett’s Matauri Bay and Seacruiser, and other top names, including Royal Playwright and Seaplane, complete a competitive 19-horse field for the season’s final Group One.
