Nashwa likely concluded her racing career

Nashwa, the remarkable filly trained by John and Thady Gosden and owned by Imad Al Sagar, has likely concluded her racing career, according to her racing manager, Teddy Grimthorpe. The daughter of Frankel achieved elite status with three Group One victories, proving herself a top-class performer over a mile and 10 furlongs.

After placing third in the 2022 Oaks, Nashwa claimed the Prix de Diane in France and followed it up with a win in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Her three-year-old campaign ended with a strong but late finish at the Breeders’ Cup, again behind Tuesday.

Nashwa's four-year-old season was marked by a mix of highs and lows. Despite early setbacks, including odds-on defeats in France and Newcastle, she delivered a stunning five-length victory in the Falmouth Stakes. Though that was her final win, she continued to earn black type in top races such as the Nassau, Juddmonte International, and Irish Champion Stakes.

This year, Nashwa started her campaign in Dubai, but the effort took a toll, and she struggled in subsequent races, including her last-place finish in the Champion Stakes. Ridden by Hollie Doyle in all 18 starts, Nashwa leaves a legacy as one of the few triple Group One-winning fillies sired by Frankel.

Grimthorpe praised Al Sagar’s decision to keep Nashwa in training, adding, "She’s been a superstar for the stud and really important."
