Naas Sunday Recap: Azada and Caught U Looking Shine

Sunday’s meeting at Naas showcased some impressive performances, highlighted by Azada and Caught U Looking, both securing Listed victories.

Trained by Dermot Weld, Azada captured the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Garnet Stakes, making a notable return after placing sixth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. The three-year-old Siyouni filly, owned and bred by the Aga Khan, was a 9/2 shot and took command early in the one-mile race. Under Chris Hayes, Azada surged ahead to win by two lengths. Weld expressed his satisfaction with her performance, stating, "It was important that she won that race. She handles the ground well, and I believe she has the potential for a Group victory next year."

In the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes, Caught U Looking, ridden by Colin Keane for trainer Noel Meade, claimed victory as the 16/5 favourite. This race marked her last for the stable before heading to the sales, following a solid year with several top placements, including fifth in both the Epsom Oaks and Irish Oaks. Meade praised her determination and confirmed her future plans, saying she deserves this victory.

Additionally, Joseph O’Brien’s Miracle Beauty broke her maiden in the opening race, while Aidan O’Brien’s Bounty showed great promise by winning the Tifrums Irish EBF Maiden. Both performances hint at exciting prospects for the upcoming season.
