Mullins' right decision brings a victory at Curragh

Trainer Emmet Mullins' last-minute decision to enter This Songisforyou (9/1) at Curragh proved to be a winning move today, as champion jockey Colin Keane delivered a stellar performance to secure victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Northfields Handicap.

Keane, who had already won the opening races at Leopardstown and Curragh for his employer Ger Lyons, brought the six-year-old gelding from the rear of the field to claim a decisive win over Indigo Five.

Mullins commented, "I wasn’t entirely confident about running him here as he had thrived since Galway but might have needed the run. It was a last-minute decision, but it’s worked out brilliantly. He’s been a fantastic horse and shows great versatility."

He added, "It was a superb ride from Colin, though I didn’t instil much confidence in him either! I advised him that the horse might need the run and to ride him to perform well, and he was exceptionally calm."

Mullins also noted, "This Songisforyou is entered in the English Cambridgeshire in two weeks. If the ground turns out to be favourable, he might participate. He is quite ground-dependent and performs best on good ground."
