Chris Hayes completed a treble at Naas by winning the mile handicap's final division two aboard 12/1 (from 18s).
Comfort Line, the second reserve, put a lot of pressure on the handicap debutant and even led him, but the game one dug out more near to home to close the gap to the 17/2 winner by a neck. Designer Cailin (20/1) and Play It Again Zaam (10/1) completed the rankings.
On his fifth start, Moutarde sported a hood for the first time after going unplaced in his previous four games.
For the in-form Gavin Cromwell, this was another victory ahead of tomorrow's Punchestown Festival.
He said: “He surprised me, to be honest. He wasn’t planning on making it, but he took him there and he travelled away grand and stayed going. I thought he was going to fall in a hole at the two poles, but he kept on well.”
Hayes also prevailed at 3/1 aboard Hasna and Tai Tam Bay (6/1). The treble paid 363/1.
