Milton Harris Loses Training License Over Bullying and Inappropriate Conduct

On Wednesday, Milton Harris, a Grade One-winning trainer. The British Horseracing Authority's Licensing Committee would suspend his training license. The suspension would be indefinite. The decision followed many violations. These included severe money mismanagement. He was also bullying Simon Earle, and his facility had serious safety problems.
The committee declared Harris unfit to hold a license, ending his second training tenure. His first stint, from 2000 to 2011, concluded with bankruptcy due to unpaid taxes. After a seven-year hiatus, the BHA reissued his 2018 license under specific conditions.
Harris also faced allegations of exerting undue influence over young, vulnerable employees. He led a campaign of bullying against Earle. His behaviour was described as arrogant and an attempt to undermine the panel's process.
Two former female employees, SJO and LHR, testified about their experiences at Harris's yard. SJO was 14-16 during her tenure. She got many WhatsApp messages from Harris. His avatar was inappropriate. He called her "Lovely Young Girl." The panel doubted Harris's claim of spiritual intentions. They noted sexual undertones in their conversations.
Another incident involved LHR, who could not exit Harris's vehicle, leading to his inappropriate remarks. However, no one attributed a sinister motive to Harris. They deemed his comment inappropriate and distressing.
The findings also detailed Harris's abusive conduct towards Earle. Recorded incidents included verbal abuse and threats. Harris made them even after being warned against contacting witnesses in a hearing. Concerns were raised about the BHA handling Earle's complaints during the investigation.
Harris reacted to the decision. He expressed disappointment and prioritised the welfare of horses, owners, and staff. He plans to issue a formal statement soon.
