Menuisier still believes in War Chimes performance

David Menuisier remains confident in War Chimes despite her disappointing performance in the Irish Oaks, where she finished down the field in eighth.

After an impressive third-place finish at 50-1 in the Epsom Oaks, expectations were high for her Curragh appearance. However, Menuisier believes that external factors affected her performance, particularly since the winner, You Got To Me, had finished behind War Chimes at Epsom.

Menuisier isn’t discouraged by War Chimes’ run, citing a tough draw and a potentially poor tactical move by Seamie Heffernan as factors. “Had she stayed on the rail, she might have finished closer,” he said. “She tends to hang right under pressure, which affects her acceleration. She’s beaten the winner before and is better than this result suggests.”

With War Chimes set for a mid-season break, Menuisier is considering a return to Champions Day at Ascot in October. “She’ll have a mini-break now and return in the autumn. We might target the fillies’ and mares’ race on Champions Day,” he added.
