David Menuisier has announced that he will be supplementing his talented filly Tamfana for the Grand Prix de Paris on Saturday. With only nine horses remaining in the Group One race after the first confirmation stage on Monday, four of which are trained by Aidan O’Brien, Menuisier and the connections have decided to go ahead and pay the €15,000 fee to enter Tamfana.
Tamfana has shown promise with a close third-place finish in the Prix de Diane and a fourth-place finish in the 1000 Guineas earlier this season. Menuisier is optimistic about her chances in the Grand Prix de Paris, especially with the potential improvement in performance with the step-up in distance.
“We are going to supplement Tamfana, and we are very hopeful that she will improve for the step up in trip,” said Menuisier. “If she does, I don’t think she needs to improve that much to be competitive. It looks like an open and winnable Group One.”
Menuisier expressed confidence in Tamfana’s well-being and revealed that Oisin Murphy would be riding her in the race. Despite several close calls in Group One races this season with other horses in his stable, Menuisier is hopeful that Tamfana can secure a win before the summer.
“It has been great to see them running so well, but obviously it has been frustrating as well,” he said. “It would be nice to get a Group One win before the summer.”
