David Menuisier remains optimistic despite Sunway's recent defeat in the Prix la Force at Paris Longchamp on Sunday.
The Galiway colt, Sunway, a horse with a promising pedigree, shares the same bloodline as the esteemed Sealiway. He has a track record of success, having emerged victorious in the prestigious Group One Criterium International at Saint-Cloud and securing a commendable second place in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster during the previous season.
The previous race took place on extremely gentle autumn terrain, and he faced challenging conditions over the weekend when starting his season at the Group Three Prix la Force.
His previous performance contributed to his position as the 3-5 favourite with Oisin Murphy, but unfortunately, the bay horse could only manage a fifth-place finish, falling short by two and three-quarter lengths to Atlast.
The way the race unfolded didn't align with Menuisier's horse's strengths. Still, he's satisfied with Sunway's performance and sees it as a valuable experience that will lead to more significant goals in the coming year.
Menuisier shared his thoughts on the race, saying, "I believe the speed was rather sluggish. Oisin was disappointed with his performance, feeling that they were moving at a very slow pace and only picked up the pace towards the end. This provides a direct insight into the team's perspective on the race. While I may not be pleased with the current circumstances, we must consider the situation from a broader perspective. The problem was not entirely chaotic, and we will have the opportunity to continue our efforts in the future."
