Meehan has several options for Jayarebe

Brian Meehan is considering a trip for Jayarebe to either Deauville or York next month, following the colt's absence from the Coral-Eclipse.

The three-year-old, sired by Zoffany, secured a Group Three victory at Royal Ascot by holding off King’s Gambit to win the Hampton Court Stakes. Originally aimed for the Eclipse at Sandown, plans changed due to unsuitable soft ground, preventing a clash with City Of Troy.

Despite this setback, Jayarebe, also victorious in the Feilden Stakes this season, remains on track for a significant outing. Potential targets include the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano or the Sky Bet York Stakes, both Group Two contests over 10 furlongs.

When asked about upcoming plans, Meehan mentioned options at Deauville on August 15th or a race at York in late July. Reflecting on the decision to withdraw from the Eclipse, he remarked, “The race here on the 15th of August, the Prix Guillaume d’Ornano, or there’s also a race at York at the end of July. I’m not sure that soft ground would have inconvenienced him, but we’ve been taking it nice and steady, race by race, with him, so I didn’t want to take the chance against City Of Troy. I’m sure the ground probably wouldn’t inconvenience him, but we’ll wait for that later in the season.”
