In the Treacy's Pharmacies Handicap at Ballinrobe, Brave Troop emerged victorious over favourite See Me Through by half a length. The five-year-old gelding, now under the training of Alan McIntyre, secured McIntyre's first win as a trainer. Brave Troop, with Luke McAteer in the saddle, moved to the front in the straight and held off See Me Through despite some tight competition near the rail. The pair crossed the finish line at 5/1 odds, with See Me Through (9/4f) finishing second, eight lengths ahead of River Derwent (12/1) in third.
McIntyre expressed his delight at securing his first win as a trainer, highlighting the hard work and support he has received, particularly from Michael and Ruth Foley at Old Leighlin Stables. He praised Brave Troop as a tough but quirky horse and hinted at a potential run at Galway for him. Despite thinking another horse, Mythical Rock, would secure his first win in a maiden race, McIntyre was pleased with the horse's solid performance in second place. With Ruairi Devine also contributing to the success of the yard, McIntyre credited his team for their experience and dedication in the racing industry.
