Lucid Dreams Set for WillowWarm Gold Cup Challenge

Lucid Dreams is gearing up for a challenge at the WillowWarm Gold Cup at Fairyhouse this Easter, with the spirited nine-year-old set to make a preliminary appearance before taking on the prestigious Grade 1 event.

Having secured a commendable second place in the Dan Moore Memorial Chase in January, Lucid Dreams was expertly guided by Danny Mullins for the first time at Navan last Saturday. Despite finishing as runner-up to Galway Plate victor Ash Tree Meadow in the Grade 2 Webster Cup, the performance showcased his potential.

Trainer John Ryan is planning to ease his contender back to novice competition in the upcoming weeks. Reflecting on Lucid Dreams' recent outing at Navan, Ryan expressed satisfaction:

"I was thrilled with his performance at Navan. Although he faced a brief challenge turning-in, he displayed remarkable resilience. Even when passed by De Bromhead's horse, Journey With Me, approaching the last hurdle, Lucid Dreams rallied and regained the lead. His strong finish was evident even after crossing the finish line."

Mullins is set to retain the ride as Lucid Dreams gears up for the Grade 3 Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase at Thurles on March 16. Ryan reiterated,

"Our target throughout the season has been the prestigious Grade 1 novice race over 2m4f at Fairyhouse on Easter Sunday, and we aim to compete there following his run at Thurles."
