Lead Artist is now set to be rerouted to Doncaster’s Betfred Park Stakes after rain-softened ground forced him out of the Celebration Mile at Goodwood.
John and Thady Gosden’s Dubawi colt made a strong debut at York in May and, despite a disappointing run at Newmarket’s July meeting, he bounced back with a Group Three victory in the Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood.
Originally scheduled to return to Goodwood, deteriorating conditions led to his withdrawal. He is now expected to make his next appearance at the St Leger Festival on September 14, stepping up to Group Two level.
Juddmonte’s European racing manager, Barry Mahon, explained, "We plan to send him to Doncaster for the Park Stakes. We learned from his previous run at Newmarket on soft ground that he doesn’t handle it well, so it didn’t make sense to race him on soft to heavy ground at Goodwood."
"He’s in good form, so we’re hopeful for a strong performance at Doncaster."
