Hang In There has reached a turning point in his summer jumping career, showcasing his talent over longer distances. Trained by Emma Lavelle, the 10-year-old gelding has excelled in the warmer months, finishing a close second in the Perth Gold Cup and clinching victory in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter.
Despite carrying more weight than his rivals in both races, Hang In There has performed admirably, aided by the allowance of jockey Joe Anderson. Previously campaigned over two and a half miles, his success has prompted Lavelle to consider longer distances for the seasoned jumper.
While he holds an entry for the Grade Three Summer Plate at Market Rasen, Hang In There's participation is uncertain. Lavelle is contemplating whether to keep him at the new distance or return to Uttoxeter for a potentially more suitable race.
Regardless of his next outing, Hang In There's progress has been evident. His ability to settle and stay the distance has proven to be a game-changer, enhancing his performance and opening up new possibilities for the talented gelding.
