Kinross aims for a third win in the HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes at Goodwood on Tuesday. The seven-year-old, trained by Ralph Beckett, has previously won the Group Two race in 2021 and 2023 and was narrowly beaten by Sandrine in 2022.
After a strong start to the season, finishing close behind Montassib in the Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle, Kinross was disappointing in the July Cup at Newmarket, where he finished eighth. However, connections are confident there will be "no excuses" on his return to Goodwood, a track he enjoys.
Jamie McCalmont, racing manager for owner Marc Chan, expressed excitement about returning to Goodwood, noting that their horse could have won three times there. He emphasised the significance of achieving a third win, while acknowledging the need for the horse to regain form and hoping for suitable ground.
Ed Walker's English Oak, coming off a strong win at Royal Ascot, poses a challenge as he steps up to Group Two level. Walker is eager to see how he fares despite being the lowest-rated in the field, and emphasises the need for improvement in stakes races.
Charlie Appleby's Noble Dynasty, unbeaten this season, heads into the race with momentum from a win in the Group Three Criterion Stakes. Appleby is optimistic about his chances despite a poor showing at the same event two years ago.
Other contenders include Tiber Flow, the John of Gaunt Stakes winner from William Haggas, and Audience, the unexpected winner of the Lockinge trained by John and Thady Gosden.
