Jockey Kielan Woods has been issued a 45-day ban for repeatedly violating whip rules, according to a recent decision by the British Horseracing Authority. This is Woods' fourth infraction within six months. Of the 45 days, nine have been deferred for six months, similar to a previous suspension of 42 days he received in June.
As a result, Woods will be inactive from January 20 to February 24. Acknowledging his responsibility in the matter, Woods expressed intent to use the suspension period to address and resolve the underlying issues contributing to his repeated rule breaches.
The British Horseracing Authority implemented stricter whip rules in February, limiting the maximum number of strikes to seven in jump racing and six in flat racing. This ban highlights the ongoing enforcement of these rules.
