Joanna Mason is thrilled to return to the Shergar Cup after her successful debut in 2022. Mason, granddaughter of the seasoned trainer Mick Easterby, celebrated a win on Amanzoe for William Haggas during her first appearance at the event. This year, she will join the Ladies Team, alongside captain and Shergar Cup veteran Hayley Turner and French Group One winner Marie Velon.
Originally, Saffie Osborne was set to be part of the team, but she has been called by Ed Walker to ride at Haydock, allowing Mason to step in.
Mason expressed her excitement to Sky Sports Racing about being called up again, recalling her fantastic experience in 2022, especially winning on Amanzoe for Mr Haggas. She praised the unique team spirit of the Shergar Cup, highlighting Hayley Turner’s enthusiasm as captain. Mason also looks forward to meeting international jockeys, including Marie Velon from France.
