Jancis makes a big step-up in class

Willie McCreery's Jancis will be making a big step-up in class as she transitions from maiden company to the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday. The Tamayuz filly showed great promise in her debut at Leopardstown in June, winning at odds of 40-1 against an 80-rated rival. McCreery is excited to see how Jancis will fare against more experienced competition, confident in her ability to perform well in black-type races.

Despite some nerves about her debut due to her behaviour in the stalls, Jancis was impressed with a strong finishing kick. With favourable ground conditions and a smaller field for the upcoming race, McCreery is optimistic about her chances for success. The lack of novice races in Ireland meant that this race was the natural next step for Jancis after her maiden win.

On a different note, McCreery's Vespertilio did not perform as expected in the Prix Jean Prat in France, finishing seventh. The disappointing result has led McCreery to take a step back with Vespertilio and reassess their plans moving forward. Despite this setback, McCreery remains hopeful for Jancis' upcoming race and believes that she has the potential to continue her success on the track.
