James Fanshawe aims to target Curragh

Ambiente Friendly, trained by James Fanshawe, will aim to improve his performance at Epsom when he competes in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on June 30th. The colt gained attention with an impressive showing in the Lingfield Derby Trial.

Despite finishing second at Epsom behind City Of Troy, who will now race in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown, co-owner Tim Gredley expressed excitement for Ambiente Friendly to compete over 12 furlongs once again against horses of the same age. Gredley highlighted the favourable conditions of the Irish Derby compared to the Eclipse, making it the ideal choice for the horse.

Ambiente Friendly will need to be supplemented to the list of entries for the Irish Derby and will be ridden once again by Rab Havlin. Discussions between the team, including Havlin, ultimately led to the decision to race in Ireland.

Paddy Power has named Ambiente Friendly as the 5-4 favourite for the Irish Derby, with Epsom third-place finisher Los Angeles at 6-4, confirmed to participate by Aidan O’Brien.
