James Doyle to Reunite with Trueshan for Prix du Cadran

James Doyle will reunite with Trueshan for Saturday’s Prix du Cadran, as regular jockey Hollie Doyle is committed to riding Nashwa at Newmarket. Alan King’s eight-year-old stayer, aiming for a third win in the prestigious two-and-a-half-mile Group One, was ridden by James Doyle when he first claimed victory in 2021, while Hollie was suspended.

Trueshan, a standout horse for Hollie Doyle, has delivered 11 victories under her, including last year’s Cadran, the Goodwood Cup, and three Long Distance Cups at Ascot. However, as the retained rider for Nashwa’s owner Imad Alsagar, Hollie will compete in the Sun Chariot Stakes instead of heading to ParisLongchamp.

Alan King confirmed Trueshan’s strong condition ahead of the race: "He was scoped today and works tomorrow. As long as everything goes well, he's on target for the Cadran. James Doyle will ride, as we anticipated Hollie might not be available."

Kyprios, the star stayer from Aidan O’Brien’s yard, is also in the mix, having won last year’s edition by 20 lengths despite hanging in the home straight. O’Brien has additionally left Continuous and Point Lonsdale as potential runners. Other notable contenders include John and Thady Gosden’s Sweet William, Sir Mark Prescott’s Miss Cynthia, and Andrew Balding’s Coltrane.

The Prix de Royallieu sees William Haggas aiming for a third consecutive win with Sea Theme, while the home-trained Double Major is Christophe Ferland’s hope in the Cadran. In other races, Brian Meehan’s Jayarbee and Owen Burrows-trained Anmaat are entered in the Prix Dollar, with Karl Burke’s Holloway Boy among the contenders in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein.
