Unfortunately, the ongoing wet weather has affected the meeting at Fontwell this afternoon and the Premier fixture at Kelso on Saturday.
Fontwell officials conducted a thorough inspection at 7.30 am due to the significant amount of rainfall received throughout the week, which was further exacerbated by an additional 7mm in the last 24 hours. This accumulation of precipitation ultimately led to the final decision.
It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the £100,000 Herring Queen Series Final Mares' Novices' Handicap Hurdle at Kelso. This highly anticipated event was the centrepiece of a promising fixture. However, the heavy rainfall overnight has left the track unsuitable for racing, with more precipitation predicted.
Regrettably, we've received an additional 12mm of precipitation overnight, rendering the track unsuitable for racing.
Yesterday, we experienced a rainfall of 22mm. However, we were able to witness a notable improvement afterwards. Unfortunately, this additional 12mm of precipitation has hindered our progress significantly. A significant portion of the track is saturated with water.
While the rain has temporarily stopped and there is a slight breeze, we anticipate more intense showers later today. Furthermore, another wave of heavy rainfall is expected on Friday night and into Saturday morning, making the track conditions even more precarious.
